To tie into #5 about meetings, I wrote a blog post titled “more transparency, fewer lobbyists?” here: http://djwonk.com/blog/2009/03/28/more-transparency-fewer-lobbyists/

[...] William Eggers, in his book, Government 2.0, writes “We shouldn’t need a lobbyist to navigate our way around government.” (p. 125) I mentioned this quote in a Saturday panel at Government 2.0 Camp session called “Top Ten Measures for Transparency Success.” [...]

As far as the “next step” for this “Top Ten” list, I think we should keep in mind that this list was only the product of a 40-minute brainstorming session.
That is to say, it basically just captured ideas that were offered by the people in the room. I’m told that there was little to no discussion by those in the room as to whether these were the “top ten” (or just the first ten ideas that were offered).
Therefore, this is just a list of “candidate ideas” that still need to be reviewed and discussed by the interested and knowledgeable people who were not in the room.
I’d certainly like to know whether Gov20club or someone else was planning a “next step”, along the lines of a deeper review and discussion (vs. presenting the list as a finished product).
In the meantime, anyone is free to join a discussion on this topic at the google-group on the “Open Government Directive” under the discussion-thread of “Measuring Transparency”.
