This session was well guided and stayed on track throughout (pun intended).
If there were more time, I’d have liked to discuss the “how”. I’m sure everyone in the room were on board the Cluetrain, and even if we weren’t, we’re more open minded about leading government in the 2.0 direction. But a huge gap remains between us and the people who we need to sell on our vision. I think a lot more discussion needs to happen around strategic implementation of 2.0/open tools and how we’re going to convince the people in power that it’s not only necessary, but it’s THE direction government is heading towards.
Of course, this criticism comes from a biased viewpoint: most people in Canada haven’t clued in entirely and we don’t have the top-down support from people like @macon, nor a charismatic leader like Obama to provide that ultimate direction… the final “GO!” imperative to lead the change.
This session was great for me, especially, to remain motivated and perhaps find other like-minded people in my city, province, and country that can drive the grassroots force upward and maybe pressure our leaders to really listen. Thanks for all of your insight… such an excellent panel of speakers!
