How do we leverage bi-directional communication internationally?
What are the pillars of social media when listening to the voices of the world?
Music, food, technology , gaming and sports are all commonalities when examining ways to connect global cultures.
Suggested pillars for facilitating global citizenship:
1. Listening
2. Understanding
3. Tolerance
4. Organization
We get too myopic when it comes to social media and the U.S. There are great examples around the world: Sweden as country and Seoul ranks highest in city participation.
Mobility is more pervasive internationally.
6 billion people in the world, this year 4 billion have access to mobile technology. The mobile manufactures are trying to figure out how to engage the remaining two million. What is it going to be like when those 2 million get online and how will that change the discourse around the world? Are we ready to listen?
Iran is the 3rd largest blogging nation in the world.
How do you build tolerance into the global citizenship? We’ve got great tools and the ability to filter information, but figuring out how to integrate tolerance (probably not possible technologically) will be key.
